Bob’s Pond is almost overflowing. CEDAR WAXWINGS are flying overhead. SUNDEWS ARE THRIVING in the wet soil above the pond. Maybe I’ll come back up later and mark the perimeter of the area they’re growing in with my white flags to see if the SUNDEWS are growing only where the soil is saturated.

LATER: I marked the perimeters of several beds of SUNDEW. Not all of them are growing in saturated soil. I need to look more closely at what they have in common, but for now maybe it’s enough to observe that they don’t seem to like areas where the taller vegetation has taken over.
