I walked to Horseshoe Bend and back via the road–1 and 3/4 miles. Noticed MILKWEED in full, fat pods, QUEEN ANNE’S LACE curled up into birds’nests, BURDOCK in burrs, and numerous GALLS on GOLDENRODS. I saw POISON IVY but no flowers or seeds. The stems were red. It was growing abundantly around the edges of the hayfield right along the river. It was all different sizes. Some was already turning yellow. One isolated plant was a deep rich red with green veins. On my way back up Sherman Hollow Road I walked through airy little see-through gnats flying in head-level clouds.
